Reproduction, in terracota, of a statuette of the Goddess Juno.

In Roman mythology, Juno, is the queen of the gods and protector of marriage. Daughter of Rhea and Saturne, she is both sister and wife of Jupiter. His attributes are the peacock, a scepter surmounted by a cuckoo and a pomegranate, symbol of conjugal love, the lily and the cow. It is assimilated to the Hera of the Greeks. Protector of women, she symbolizes marriage when she is shown covered with veils, and she is associated with fertility when she bears the emblem: the pomegranate apple. The fourth month of the Roman calendar would have been named June in his honor by the Romans.
